First we were supposed to go Greece, then we decided for camping but in the end we chose to do the West Highland way. It’s a 154 km walk from Glasgow to Fort William. Started in Milngavie. The first hour was horrendous! We had both at least 15 kilo on our backs and OMG. I have personally never had that before. R has as he been in the military, but that was years ago 😅 it got easier after a while, but then the heat kicked in… 28 degrees 😩
After a few hours walking and a few stops we got to see the highland cows 😍
After we walked passed the cows we got to a pub where we had some ice blasts to cool us down in the heat. After our short break we kept walking towards Drymen. However, just after a 10 min walk we needed to stop. R has developed bad blisters on the back of his heal. Plaster him up and keep going.
We found this wee resting place where the local farmers had left drinks and cakes with a honestly box. Each drink was £1 and a cake was £2. So incredibly nice of them, everyone is so nice here I can’t take it!
Around 18:00 we got to Drymen where we had a pint at a local pub. All male pub workers had kilts 😎
Our plan was to find a nice camp site, pitch our tent, chill, cook dinner and have a good sleep.
Ended up with us rushing out in the woods (where we probably were not allowed to camp) pitching our tents as quickly as possible and try to get in the tent before we got caught. We had a quick dinner consisting of a wrap with mackerel and tomato sauce 😬 had the worst sleep as our tent was sooo small 😅 woke up with a thousand bugs and spiders haha!
